While Samsung's Unpacked event may have just begun in Berlin, the Note II is already official. The leak from earlier today hit the nail on the head (we assumed it did).
Specs:Aside from the upgrade in guts, Samsung also revamped the S Pen, making it a little thicker and more natural feeling for a better writing experience.
- 5.5" 1280x720 Super AMOLED display
- 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor (likely Snapdragon S4 in US LTE models)
- 2GB RAM
- 16/32/64GB storage, microSD Card slot
- 8MP Rear shooter
- 1.9MP Front camera
- S Pen with S Note and S Planner
- 80.5 x 151.1 x 9.4 mm, 180 g
- 3100mAh battery
- Android 4.1
- Available in Marble White or Titanium Gray
Like previously suggested, the Note II features Air View, a software modification that allows you to hover the S Pen atop certain elements and give you a snapshot of information without actually navigating away from the foreground application. The examples given were in S Calendar, the gallery, and video player. Like the Galaxy S III, the Note II will also feature the floating video player, as well as a floating note app for use with the S Pen.
The new features of the S Pen don't stop there, either. The Note II also has a really neat feature that allows users to "flip" their digital images and write on the backside of them. Just like with physical pictures! What a fantastic blend of modern and traditional.
The Note II will launch in "major European, Asian, and Middle East markets" beginning in October, with U.S. availability later this year.
